This year, Donate to Resilience
This year has challenged us all. But, in the face of that adversity, we have
seen great resiliency both from our neighbors and also within our organization. On this Giving Hearts Day, your donation will go to expand these resilient programs. Specifically, these two new programs:
EMERGENCY FOOD & RENT ASSISTANCE
The pandemic has increased the need for supplemental food assistance, which
we have filled with our food distribution program. We plan to serve close to 75 families in 2021, with our focus placed on women-led households experiencing domestic violence or having no income.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT & YOUTH MENTORING
The young people in our community have been presented with another issue.
Namely, adjusting to a new learning style during the pandemic. We have found that it is even more difficult for students who have parents that do
not speak English fluently. In response, we have now created Academic
Support services that students can take advantage of during their distance
learning days. We began the Fall Semester serving 54 students, and now have 34 students represented from the three school districts.
Further, we launched the “Risers Youth Mentoring Program,” which teaches
youth life and leadership skills. Our first cohort included 21 young folks
from the FM area.
Beyond just this, we are continuing our typical programming, including everything from case service management to diversity trainings.
